The Ringer

No sooner does Link awake than he begins complaining about how boring castle life is. (He misses "sleeping in the mud," though I don't recall him sleeping at all in the games. He is also sporting some nightwear that I would find sexy if it wasn't so disturbing.) The day begins eventfully, however, as Moblins sneak into Link's room and attack him, hoping to get the Triforce of Wisdom he's protecting. They lose, of course.

Zelda comes to Link's door and he greets her with a ki- Oh. No, she slaps him. Tough break, dude. Link tells Zelda about the Moblins and she responds by reminding him it's his duty to keep the Triforce safe. She leaves, needing to get to the Magician's Contest as she is a judge. Meanwhile, in the Dark World, Ganon plots to enter the contest. He dons a blue cape as a disguise then teleports to the upper world.

It does not take long for Ganon to start trouble. Zapping a small lizard, he causes it to grow into a dragon to lure Link out of the tower. Link hears Zelda's cries and runs to help her. After the dragon is defeated, Spryte yells from the Triforce room. Ganon is escaping with the Triforce of Wisdom. Thinking quickly, Zelda plants a seed in the ground and tells a nearby magician to use his growing spell on it. Link and Zelda catapult themselves into the woods using the stem of the plant. Falling through the trees they land; Link on his ass and Zelda in his lap. Link exclaims that he's saved Zelda's life and asks for a kiss...but then Ganon comes rampaging their way.

A fight ensues between the heroes and Ganon's Stalfos. Link has the brilliant idea of using his belt to tie he and Zelda back-to-back so they can keep on guard. As Ganon heads for the door to the Dark World, Link blasts the Triforce of Wisdom out of his hands. Having defeated the enemy, Zelda tells Link to unhook the belt. He refuses. His price is one kiss, and Zelda, apparently not skilled in the ways of unlatching belt buckles, gives in. - When out of nowhere appears Spryte! Wow, such timing! She unhooks the buckle herself and the two fall to the ground.

Quotes

Link: I'd like to know one good reason why I even stay here. (walks to the balcony and spots Zelda at the other tower) Ooh. Okay, so there's one good reason. *whistles* Lookin' good, Princess. 'Specially from this angle!

Link: You're a girl, Spryte. How can I get Zelda to pay more attention to me?
Spryte: Who cares? She's a snot! You should stick with me.
Link: Spryte, you're only three inches high!
Spryte: What? You don't like short girls??

Link: Saved your life again. Kiss me!

Link: Saved the kingdom again, Princess. Not bad, eh?
Zelda: You got lucky. Now get this belt off.
Link: No!
Zelda: What do you want?
Link: A kiss. C'mon.
Zelda: No.
Link: Then we stay like this...
Zelda: Oh, alright. I suppose you do deserve some reward. Just don't try to make a habit of this.
Link: I won't. I promise. (crosses fingers behind his back)

No foolin' around here. The first episode makes it perfectly clear that Link has the hots for the princess. She seems generally pissed with his advances, but by the end begins to give in. It seems to me her bad attitude is all a front to hide her true feelings. Maybe this will change in the next 12 episodes. ...Maybe.
