Nabooru is a woman who possesses a commanding presence. She is strong minded, yet caring, a theif, but against killing. Her no-nonsense personality has made her a great leader, and her sense of humor has made her a great friend. She is not easily led, being strong in her convictions. Nabooru admits to making mistakes and vows to do whatever she can to redeem herself.
Link's first encounter with Nabooru is in the Spirit Temple as a child. She speaks to Link about Ganondorf and recruits him to help her retrieve the Silver Gauntlets. She promises to do something special for Link if he succeeds, then moves aside so he can explore the left wing of the temple. Link finds the Silver Gauntlets, but Nabooru is captured by Koume and Kotake while he is in the temple, and he is unable to come to her aide.
Several years later, Link discovers Nabooru in the depths of the Spirit Temple - brainwashed and made to fight as an Iron Knuckle. It is not until after Link defeats Twinrova that Nabooru awakens as a Sage and bestows upon him her Medallion. Seeing the fine young man he has turned into, she comments that she should have kept the promise she made seven years ago. ...And you can interpret that however you like.
Considering Nabooru's attitude, she strikes me as wanting to be friends, but not much else. Yes, she flirts with him, but it's a dry, humorous kind of flirtation, not a giddy school-girl one. They do not interact enough for the attraction to be anything but physical. She calls him "kid," which makes it obvious she thinks of him as younger and less experienced than herself. Nabooru strikes me as being an older, wiser figure whom Link can go to for friendly advice.
