Chapter 7: I Want...

ROGUE SHEIKAH STRONGHOLD

Ich will
Ich will dass ihr mir vertraut
Ich will dass ihr mir glaubt
Ich will eure Blicke spüren
Ich will jeden Herzschlag kontrollieren

A Sheikah guard was hastily walking in a gloomy-looking corridor with some bread and a flask containing an unknown substance. In here it was dark and creepy. Water was running down the walls and the putrid smell of rot was disgusting. As the guard came about one of the heavy wooden doors, the two soldiers guarding it warned him, "He's in a really bad mood this morning. You remember what happened last time."

"Yeah, but the high council wants him in perfect shape for tomorrow, you know that," he replied, opening the door's heavy lock.

Kyul was waiting; he waits every minute of every hour. He waits for the sound, the sound of freedom, the sound he craves, the sound that triggers his fighting instincts, the little "click" that makes his adrenalin rush and the triforce emblem on the back of his right hand glow a strong, pure golden light. And there it was, there were only three... Mistake on their part...

Kyul timed it perfectly. He ran and jumped, his foot made contact with the door at the exact moment the guard unlocked it and wasn't ready for any surprises... The first guard flew on the opposing wall with tremendous force. Knocked cold, he dropped the bread and the flask. The two others were expecting something of the sort so they entered the room quickly, sword and spear ready for combat, and god only knows how they would need it...

The second guard, as he entered, met up with Kyul's foot, flew out of the room, and fell on the first guard, who was lying on the ground. The third one didn't fall for the same trick. He entered with his spear and his small sword ready for combat... As he saw Kyul in the middle of the room, his clothes shredded, many wounds still swollen and filth covering his face, he said, "I guess it's only between me and you this time, unworthy dirt bag."

"You better call for back up, I don't want to hurt you too much... No? Then BRING IT ON!" Kyul replied, defying the guard's weapons with his eyes...

The guard, shaken by Kyul's defiance towards him, hesitated to attack the unarmed man, especially since the High Council didn't want him hurt, so it was almost voluntary that he let Kyul jump on him, bring him down, and punch him out... He didn't want to get the blame for his death...

Kyul picked up the fallen guard's weapons. They weren't the best quality, but they would have to do this time.

Ich will eure Stimmen hören
Ich will die Ruhe stören
Ich will dass ihr mich gut seht
Ich will dass ihr mich versteht

As he walked out of the cell, Kyul turned his head to his right and glimpsed a squadron of sheikah elite guards coming his way... Wasting no time, he hurled the spear at them with all of his strength. It came so fast the incoming guards didn't have time to react. The spear made its way through the horde of running soldiers only to lodge itself in one of the leading one's shoulder... By the time they looked again Kyul's way, they only saw his late foot leave in another passageway...

Kyul was running fast... Very fast... He was trying to find his way through the maze of caves, corridors, hall, and rooms... It was worthless though; there was no way he could get out, too many directions, doors, and intersections...

Kyul stopped in a large intersection to catch his breath, his stomach was crying out for food, his sight was fading out, probably because of the lack of water... He had refused to drink or eat in the few days (or so) he was there...

"NO, STAY AWAKE...FIGHT IT!" Kyul was futilely trying to keep control of his beaten body, but there was almost nothing left to keep control of. The repeated gang beating of the guards and his hunger strike had sapped his strength, but never his will to fight.

"There he is!" Kyul looked over his shoulder; Sheikah guards were swiftly making their way to him...He resumed his getaway to his left, running and running with less and less vigour with every stride...

Feeling that the sheikahs were right on his ass and catching up to him, he looked at the triforce symbol and yelled, "C'MON! MAKE YOURSELF USEFUL!" and to his amazement it began to glow stronger and brighter, fuelling his legs to make him run faster...

As he got to another intersection, he noticed that they were now coming from the front and left as well as from behind... "Cornered," he simply said in his mind. He took his right, only to arrive to a small door probably leading to a small room... It somewhat looked familiar, but hell with it. It would be a good place to make a stand for a few hours... Maybe...

Kyul blasted through the open door and a few stabs with his sword cleared the way for him to close it. He quickly proceeded and leaned on it, closing his eyes in the process... Finally some rest... But something was not right... Kyul opened his eyes and scanned the room... Chains, creepy looking pieces of metal, chairs and tables... No this could not be... It was the room in which most of the wounds afflicting him were inflicted. It was here that they tortured him because of his complete refusal to tell more about him, Mikel (aka Zelda), and the former Hero of Time... But more disturbingly, three other persons were standing in the room; the overseer, the head mage, and the man with the hood, the one who tortured him... In one last futile attempt, Kyul threw his sword at the group, but the lack of energy and the feeling of hopelessness caused him to throw weakly and miss wide right...

The overseer laughed and said, "He's pathetic... I think we weakened him enough for the... Procedure."

The head Mage looked at Kyul who had dropped on his knees in despair and was on the brink of fainting, and replied to the overseer, "Yes, I think this will be enough... Put him on that table, tie him up, and call all of the wizards. It has to be done quickly before the Triforce regains its energy."

"Of course," the cloaked man said... To those words Kyul passed out...

Ich will eure Phantasie
Ich will eure Energie
Ich will eure Hände sehen
Ich will in Beifall untergehen

Seht ihr mich?
Versteht ihr mich?
Fühlt ihr mich?
Hört ihr mich?
Könnt ihr mich hören?
Wir hören dich
Könnt ihr mich sehen?
Wir sehen dich
Könnt ihr mich fühlen?
Wir fühlen dich
Ich versteh euch nicht

STALA PLAINS

Link was taking out his frustration on a random piece of furniture... When he was done with it, it was completely demolished... It wasn't in Link's habit to lose his temper in that way, but it had been a week since Kyul had been taken by the rogue sheikahs and Link was angry at himself for not having paid enough attention to the shadows he saw that night... Zelda kept telling him that it wasn't his fault... That he was concerned by other things that night... But no, he can't forgive himself that easily. And now Zelda was stalling his attempts to leave Stala and go to Kyul's rescue. She thought that they should figure out whom to look for first...

"Link? What's going on in there?" Zelda was at his doorstep... He had to calm down...

Without waiting any longer for approval, Zelda entered in Link's room. It was a mess, everything was everywhere and what used to be a very nice piece of furniture was laying in shards on the ground...

"What happened here, Link?" Zelda asked in astonishment of the damage he had caused in his anger...

"Nothing, absolutely nothing... I'm just really angry that we're not out there looking for Kyul. I mean, god knows what they are doing to him..." Link was annoyed and missed action. He would sometimes grab the master sword and swing it at thin air. He just wanted to feel its minuscule weight in his hand...

"Well you pretty much trashed the place... Anyways, the reason I don't want to go search for Kyul is that I think for now we need to let the hype around us fall. You know how three random persons, two of which are dressed as Sheikahs, destroyed three of the most powerful evil beings on this world," Zelda replied, trying to get Link to understand that she, too, craved for action and was as devastated as he was for what happened to Kyul...

"Well, we waited long enough... Let's go now," Link said, his patience running out... "Yes Link, we will leave soo..." Zelda's pupils focused on the two dark forms in the shadow of Link's window... When they saw Zelda one of them hissed and they disappeared outside. "LINK, WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?" Zelda shouted as she rushed to the window to investigate... "I don't know, but I suggest we leave, fast." Just as Link pronounced the last word of his sentence, a small object of metal penetrated the room by the window and embedded itself in the wall between Link and Zelda. It was a weapon, small and compact, it consisted of three curved blades carefully crafted and it was held together by a spherical globe of metal, just big enough to fit in one's hand.

LAUFT!
Weil der Meister uns gesandt
verkünden wir den Untergang
der Reiter der Boshaftigkeit
füttert sein Geschwür aus Neid

Zelda's blue eyes met Link's own for only a split second before more deadly objects assailed them... Link, dodging one of the spinning blades quickly, tossed a deku nut at the window. The flash was enough to cover their escape.

As Link and Zelda ran through the corridors of the Stala Castle, they bumped into Thomas, the leader of the Stalan Knights.

"Tom, there are assassins here to get us. Can you please slow them down? We need to leave NOW," Link choked as he stopped to take his breath.

Thomas looked over Link's shoulder, concerned, and replied, "First it's Kyul gone and now some OTHER people are after you... I will summon my Knights. No worries, they will NOT get to you, for they will have to come across me and my Knights first!"

Die Wahrheit ist wie ein Gewitter
es kommt zu dir du kannst es hören
es kund zu tun ist ach so bitter
es kommt zu dir um zu zerstören

Link gratefully thanked Thomas for his help and quickly made a run for the stables. As he ran, he met up with Knights running in the other direction. Hopefully they could slow the mysterious murderers enough for he and Zelda to lose them... It would be tough in the plains, though... Oh well, that's not the problem now...

As Link mounted Epona, he turned his head towards the Castle and heard muffled screams, loud orders, and the clash of weapons... Link turned around... For the first time, he ran away. For the first time, he let others do the work. For the first time, he sacrificed many for one. The first time. It is also the last... Hopefully...

Weil die Nacht im Sterben lag
verkünden wir den jüngsten Tag
es wird kein Erbarmen geben
lauft, lauft um euer Leben

ROGUE SHEIKAH HEADQUARTERS

Kyul slowly opened his eyes. When the haze cleared, he saw many richly clothed individuals standing around him... He was lying down on a table of some sort. Shattered is the word that most accurately describes his condition... He could barely move his eye globes without a sharp, knife-like pain ripping his head apart.

Besides him, to his right, was the Sheikah Overseer speaking to a handful of seemingly important persons in the Kam-Xene-whatever-they-are-called brotherhood. He only overheard a small part of their conversation before he blacked out... "Having a Schatten-Reiter under our control would be a great advantage. I mean, can you imagine the power he holds... I mean, he is the heir of the Schattenfeilds for Din's sake," the one closest to him said. Kyul's eyes were fading out again...

Another of them replied, "Yes, but if he escapes our spell... He must perish." To those grave words, Kyul blacked out and his mind faded away in the murky shadows of his subconscious...

"Ahn Whar nite colahn sha kyn." The words were pronounced slowly and powerfully by many beings...

Kyul was lost in his mind, still having nightmares about his family, but more recently he had nightmares like he had six or seven years ago... But now it was bloodcurdling, for he heard voices whisper in his head...

Kyul opened his eyes to a circle of wizards humming weird incantations... "NOOO!" Kyul realized what they were attempting and shrieked. They were never going to get him... As the incantations began to grow louder in his mind, Kyul implored the essence of the three goddesses to help him fight it... But it was well planned; Kyul was purposely exhausted and injured so that the power of the Triforce was required to heal his injuries.

Kyul's body was getting numb, he was losing control... Numbness was spreading like an infection from the tip of his fingers up to his elbows and it was evil, evil like a putrid cancer eating away one's body and rotting the bones...

Then... Light... Pure white light... Kyul was there, in his spiritual form... He felt peaceful and healthy, but it didn't last, for he could feel he was not in control of his body anymore... He was alone, all alone in a white room, completely locked out from reality... They had won, the Sheikah extremists had in their possession the body of a Triforce bearer... It was trouble...

Ich will
Wir wollen dass ihr uns vertraut
Wir wollen dass ihr uns alles glaubt
Wir wollen eure Hände sehen
Wir wollen in Beifall untergehen - ja

The Overseer of the Kam-Xeneises Sheikah was very satisfied when the Schatten-Reiter's Soulless body sat up on the table, his eyes empty of will and feelings... It was a puppet, an empty shell free to receive its content... A creepy and wicked laugh filled the dark room and echoed across the halls of the shadow fortress... "Go, Reiter, go carry our biddings and bring life to the old Sheikah ways!" He laughed out as the empty pawn he controlled with his mind grasped the powerful Sword of Light and ran out of the fortress, for he had dark biddings to perform...

Könnt ihr mich hören?

Könnt ihr mich sehen?
Wir sehen dich
Könnt ihr mich fühlen?

SOMEWHERE, NOWHERE

Link was riding swiftly on Epona, Zelda right behind him on Snow. LAUFT, the Schatten Reiter word for RUN, was stuck in Link's mind. He was running. From whom, he knew. From what, he didn't... He knew very well where he was going, the only sane place to go, the only place where he could uncover a hint of where Kyul could be, the last place he saw Sheikahs in decent number... The lost foothills of Loth Mayn...

The ride would be short but very hazardous... If they were lucky they would get there by morning...

Zelda was weary and burned out. She was barely able to follow Link across the fields, and as night gloomed on them, all that she could make out of him was the light of the Triforce symbol glowing in front of her... " Link... LINK!" she yelled.

Link heard Zelda's call and halted Epona on the burned heath... "What is it?" he asked, weary to continue his journey towards peace of mind.

"Link, we have to stop... The horses are exhausted and it's not safe to go into those foothills in a night as dark as this," Zelda said, her blue eyes begging for Link's approval.

Link, taking account of the wisdom in Zelda's words, looked at the ground, back at the disguised princess, and dismounted Epona. "You're right, I am getting carried away... Let's rest here for the night."

They both unsaddled their valiant stallions and fed them some bread they had in their provision sacs... When this was done, Zelda sat down on an old blanket with the crest of the triforce sewn in the middle. Zelda had it in her possession since she was a small child...

Link sat down on the ground and rested upon a boulder. Feeling some inspiration, he began to play around with his Ocarina. Soft melodies were escaping the noble instrument under Link's expert commands. Pure notes drifted in the crisp air of the valley. It was comforting and brought a sentiment of peace amongst the two warriors of light. That peace, however, did not reach the impassive being traveling to the same destination. Cold and stiff, he continued his hasty and fatigueless voyage impervious to the joyous notes reaching his ears, but it did, however, reach someone else...

Kyul was in the white room trying with all his might to break through the malevolent spell placed upon him. But it was no use, they were too strong... Then, music came to his ear. It sounded like a flute... LINK'S OCARINA!!! Kyul was sparked with a flame of hope. It soon died down, thoug,h as the music became more and more faint. He fell to his knees in the floorless room and rammed his fist one last time against the invisible wall preventing him from regaining control of his body...

"Beautiful melody isn't it, my child?" a calm, wise, and respect-demanding voice echoed in the mind drift.

Kyul jumped to his feet and scanned the endless white realm for a presence... There was no one... Only a powerful presence...

"You have progressed beyond everyone's expectations. Your father is very proud," the voice said again.

"Who is here? What do you want?" Kyul asked to the infinity.

The voice laughed and replied, "I am here."

Kyul made a quick about-turn to find himself facing a very familiar figure... "Ahhh!" Kyul cried in fear as he fell backwards.

"I am glad I can finally speak directly with you, Kyul," the man said. Kyul recognized him immediately... Tall, strong, Schatten-Reiter tunic, blue and white war paint on his face... It was the founder of the Schatten-Reiters clan... The semi-god, Kal-Shzenay, was standing tall in front of him, his body radiating holy energy...

"W...what are you doing here... in my mind?" Kyul asked, still unsure of the credibility of the being standing in front of him... For all he knew, it could be an illusion created by the Sheikah wizards to distract him...

"I am the Spirit guardian of the Schatten Reiters, your guardian. I am sorry I could never contact you this directly, but it was impossible. You were never deep enough in your dreams to be able to hear me." The half god had spoken with such truth that it was unfeasible that the Spirit standing in front of him was a swift fraud by the Sheikahs...

"I... I believe you... But why are you here? Can you help me regain control?" Kyul asked, intimidated by the man who was his role model, his hero...

"Unfortunately no, I cannot. You see, I have only the power of speech since I passed away," the god said. Kyul could feel emotions in his voice... As if he missed something...

SOMEWHERE, NOWHERE

Link was still smoothly playing his ocarina when Zelda began to doze off to the melody of her own lullaby. Her sleepy blue eyes met Link's own when he finished the piece. "Link, do you love me?" she asked, her voice affected by the intense movement of the past days...

"Me?" Link replied, dumbfounded by the awkward question.

"Yes you, you fool," Zelda laughed.

"Well yes, for sure. I was never able to realize what it was, but... Yes, I do," the Hero of Time whispered to Zelda's ear.

"I always felt it too... You should have seen me when you were gone, I was so anxious to see you return, and now with all that happened, when you did come back, I don't know, I was... I wasn't ready to tell you." The words Zelda whispered back were deep and emotional. Link was feeling the emotional wisdom Zelda emanated and he sat down right next to her.

"Here... Here, I don't think that anything should bother us... For once, I am here, you are here, we're not in an impossible situation, Zelda... I love you..." Those were the only words Link could muster after the very emotional conversation...

"Me too, Link... Me too." They both kissed for a long time and then went to sleep, one hugging the other... They both fell in a deep sleep. For the first time in a long time they both felt safe and comfortable...

LOTH MAYN FOOTHILLS

The Soulless warrior openly approached the home that was hosting one of the last remaining Hylian Knights, one of the last survivors of the great war. The house was also hosting a group of loyal sheikah determined to bring the race back to its noble and honorable roots. But the Kam-Xeneises brotherhood had other ideas for the sheikah cult... So the Loth Mayn Sheikah, Hyrule's protectors to the north, were an obstacle. The Overseer thought they had to be eliminated... Whom better to perform this than a legendary traitor... A Schatten Reiter...

As he got closer, a troop of guards (including a few Sheikah) gathered close to the gate... The dismal Reiter approached the small door, and, knowing neither fear nor anticipation, only his lethal duty, he knocked on the door...

"Who are you and what is your business at the Loth Mayn Outpost...boy?" The gatekeeper asked, looking down on Kyul's body as if he was some kind of beggar...

Kyul's soul was shrieking... He was powerless, only he and the spirit of Kal-Shzenay knew what was about to happen. There was nothing anyone at that outpost could do against the Triforce and the Sword of Light...

Then there were two moments... The first was when the Hylian Gatekeeper leaned to look at Kyul's empty eyes... The second was when Kyul had the sword of light in his hand, and the Gatekeeper was collapsing. Dead...

Kyul's soul was crying... His heart was broken... How could he have let something like that happen? He should have killed himself before they could take control of his body, the Triforce, and the Sword of Light...

The only comfort came from Kal-Shzenay. "Do not lose hope. Fight it, FIGHT IT... You're are a Schatten Reiter, for Din's sake. You are stronger than those pitiful Sheikahs."

Kyul dropped to his knees and implored the three goddesses for help. He could not do it alone...

I am so high. I can hear heaven.
No heaven, no heaven don't hear me

The empty Kyul entered the Outpost... The guards and soldiers quickly surrounded him... "Drop your weapons, boy, NOW!" one of the guards shouted... The empty eyes were directed at the source of the disturbance... Then, without warning, the Schatten Reiter passed into slaughter mode...

He jumped at the guard who warned him first. Slashing downwards, he shattered the soldier's sword and sliced half of his skull. Blood sprayed everywhere, the crimson life fluid emptying itself from its container and soiling all of those standing close...

Just as he landed, the renegade Sheikah's pawn performed a spin attack beheading the three Loth Mayn guards running to intercept him...

And they say that a hero can save us.
Im not gonna stand here and wait.
I'll hold onto the wings of the eagles.
Watch as they all fly away.

Witnessing the incredible power of the Schatten Reiter, the remaining guards slowly backed off, leaving room for the reinforcement... It came in the form of three figures who had swiftly and fluidly dropped from nowhere, not making any sound in their arrival. Clad in white and blue, their faces covered with white cloth...

"It's for us you came, Schatten Reiter. Leave them alone," the leading one said, reaching in his belt pouch for his needles...

Emotionless, the pawn armed an arrow on his bow and it began to glow a cool, crisp blue aura... As he let it go, a small but heavy rock hit him stoutly in the back of the head causing him to miss his shot wide right, inches from the three newcomers. The arrow continued its deadly flight right up to the base of a guard tower. The humid air in the vicinity of the impact immediately froze...

The small boy who had shot the rock with a slingshot was clothed in the same way as the three Sheikah warriors... Satisfied with his shot he said, "You want us? You will have to get all of us, you Schatten Reiter scum." The boy clearly did not understand who he was dealing with...

Annoyed by the irritating boy, the pawn quickly spun around and hurled the Schattenfield dagger right at him. The boy was a Sheikah, a young and inexperienced Sheikah, but still one. He was able to react quickly enough not to get killed, but it still hit him in the shoulder and pierced through... The boy yelled the burning pain out and flew back from the powerful impact and fell hard on the dusty ground...

Someone told me love will all save us.
But how can that be, look what love gave us.
A world full of killing, and blood-spilling
That world never came.

The pawn set his attention back to the three Sheikahs... They were not there anymore. Perplexed, the pawn walked a few more paces in the now empty courtyard. It didn't take long for his acute senses to feel a presence to his right. His lightning quick reflexes enabled him do dodge the small needles sent flying by the Sheikah warrior, who was now unsheathing two small daggers...

Using only his intuition, the pawn rolled to the side, miraculously avoiding the sharp edge of a sheikah small sword... When he got up, the pawn was facing the three of them again. He would not make the mistake to take his sight off of them again... This time they all attacked simultaneously. They all threw their deadly needles at the pawn's neck, hoping that one would hit its target and incapacitate him... The pawn simply put his shield in the way and the usually deadly attack was reduced to nothing.

And they say that a hero can save us.
Im not gonna stand here and wait.
I'll hold onto the wings of the eagles.
Watch as they all fly away.

APPROACHING THE LOTH MAYN OUTPOST

Link was feeling anxious. Epona was quick, but he would be very relieved when he would finally be able to talk to the Sheikahs at Loth Mayn... They might hold the key to Kyul's whereabouts.

As he was riding, Link broke a smile... "What is it, Link?" Zelda curiously asked.

"Well, I remember when I first came to Loth Mayn. It was a funny experience... I was just thirteen."

A younger Link was riding Epona in a beautiful valley. Falcons were flying over him, their nest hidden in the foothills. It was a very nice day, the sun shining on the young warrior as he was getting closer to the stone walls of the famed Loth Mayn Outpost...

"Well, this is the closest we have been from Hyrule in a long while... let's not stick around too long, Ok, Epony?" The horse hissed as they arrived at the gate...

After talking his way in with the guards, Link walked to the stables to feed Epona. After that was done, Link walked in the courtyard. A small troop of children his age approached. Who seemed to be the head of the group called Link, "Hey you! Buddy, over there." Link turned around inquisitively and raised an eyebrow wondering what the kids could possibly want with him...

"Yeah, I'm talking to you. What are you doing here?" the boy asked defiantly.

"I'm just stopping for the night. My horse is tired and I am hungry. Does it look like I want trouble? No? Leave me alone now," Link replied coldly, taking no consideration of the threatening tone the kid had used...

"You are now, asshole," the kid spit as he swung a wooden sword at Link's head. Anticipating the shot, Link turned around and blocked the shot with his bare arm, quickly ripping the wooden weapon from the child's grip and throwing it to the ground...

Link then said with weight, "No... No trouble."

"You should have seen the look on that boy's face when I took his sword from him." Link and Zelda were laughing together at Link's first experience of Loth Mayn. It was good not to think of all the damn world's troubles ... The sad reality quickly made its return though. As Link and Zelda approached the outpost's gate they came over the decapitated body of a guard. A pool of fresh blood had formed around the gate, it was sickening... Yet the worst was still to come...

Seeing this slaughter, Zelda jumped from Snow and ran through the gate, Link right behind her... Nothing could have prepared them for the scene to come... Bodies all over, some of them still moving a bit, the others cruelly butchered to death. Zelda almost returned her breakfast at the sight of some of the bodies, but what really confused her was the boy standing in the middle of it all, fiercely fighting off three sheikah warriors was... "KYUL!" Link and Zelda choked in unison...

His eyes were closed and he was feeling sick. All of the slaughtering had made him sick. He could not forget the face of the soldiers. His body massacred, the spirit of the semi-god was sitting, his arms crossed and his eyes shut. He was meditating, trying to avoid the killings... "Why did it have to be me? WHY?!" Kyul's spirit yelled right in Kal's face. The god slowly opened his sparkling eyes and said, "You were the only choice. You carry my blood... It was planned when we left the Sheikahs..."

"KYUL!" It was Link's voice... Link was here... Oh no.

Link and Zelda's shout distracted the souless warrior enough for one of the Sheikah warriors to slash a cut into Kyul's right leg... The pawn croaked a deep cry of pain... Its first sign of life since he came... It's because it came from its subconscious...

Then, he was enraged. Before Link, Zelda, or anyone could do anything, he fought with newfound vigour... He took an arrow from his quiver and attacked. Crippled, but still lethal, the pawn struck... Coming on the first Sheikah like lighting on a tree, he disarmed him swiftly by slashing the Warrior's wrist and while he collapsed in pain the pawn stuck the arrow he was holding right through the poor man's throat. Blood quickly flooded his lungs preventing him from breathing... Death was soon to follow.

Certain of his success, he continued to the second Sheikah. The pawn assessed a strong kick to the chest before he could even think of reacting... He fell backwards in the growing pool of blood and could only watch in horror as the pawn continued his dirty job... The third Sheikah came from behind and raised his sword to strike the deadly blow but something interfered..."Kyul, NOOOOO!" Zelda had exhausted the air in her lungs yelling her fear...

The pawn turned around, saw the threatening Sheikahs and backflipped. His first foot hit the Sheikah's sword, sending it flying in the air... The second foot hit the Sheikah square under the chin... When he landed, the Pawn swiftly swung his sword at the Sheikah's neck... The effect wasn't immediate, but as the man brought his hands to his neck, a small red line appeared and he collapsed face first into the red mud caused by all the killing...

This all happened in a very short period of time... Link and Zelda were astonished to see their friend massacre so many people. He was covered in blood, his usually golden sword was now tainted crimson, his hair was sticky and in locks, droplets of blood were running down his face... And he was about to finish his sinister job...

The pawn slowly limped towards the remaining Sheikah to finish him off... When he got there, the Sheikah was kneeling, defeated, blood staining his outfit and face bandages... His eyes half closed, he accepted his fate. The pawn lifted his sword high above his head, about to deal the final blow, but someone would not let it happen...

Link had an arrow ready. He would not let Kyul kill another being, not today... But killing him, never... As Kyul began his motion, Link let the arrow go. Accurate as always, it hit Kyul in the left shoulder blade. It penetrated skin, muscle, bone and came out on the other side... Kyul let out another cry of pain and as he turned towards Link one could see some sign of life in his watery eyes.. He was crying... So were Link and Zelda...

Blood was rushing down Kyul's left hand. He was himself for one blink of an eye, tears running down his face, but when he blinked his eyes emptied again... Kyul's body jumped on the stairs of the upper wall, ran up, and disappeared over the solid stone...

Link was devastated. Could it be true? Could Kyul have changed sides... He and Zelda then helped the survivors of the vicious attack. One caught Link's attention. It was a small thirteen year-old boy dressed as a Sheikah... He was sweating, his fever was bad, and a dagger was embedded in his shoulder... Link gave the child one of his gloves to bite on and pulled the dagger from the boy's body... The courageous boy barely made any complaints from the pain, but tears were coming from his fiery red eyes. Link's anger doubled when he read on the bloodstained dagger "Schattenfields"....
